Do you breathe to be alive, or do you breathe to be living?

...This question hit my heart the first time I heard it.

The very thing that keeps us alive is something we so often take for granted - at least, I did for a long time.

Each inhale and exhale happens automatically.

It’s survival. It keeps our heart beating. We are alive.

But breath can be so much more than that.

We can use our breath not only to stay alive, but to truly live.

We have a choice.

When used mindfully, breath becomes a gateway to presence, connection, and transformation.

Today, we know many different breathwork techniques, each magical and unique in its own way.

The one that has had the most profound impact on my life—and on so many others—is the two-stage breathing technique:

Inhale – inhale – exhale.

Everything through the mouth.

As oxygen reaches the brain, it stimulates the hypothalamus gland, triggering the release of endorphins. These endorphins then activate other ductless glands—or chakras, as they are known in spiritual traditions—opening pathways to deeper awareness, balance, and transformation.

The more oxygen that flows through your cells, the more transformation you can feel. Oxygen continues its work on many levels. It helps balance the body by reducing acidity in the blood, while gently inviting the brain into a more relaxed state. In a world that constantly demands our attention, this sense of ease is something many of us long for.

Through breathwork, we give ourselves permission to step out of the rush and return to stillness. We connect to our hearts.
